How to make Luisa’s Focaccia di Patate

I tried a new recipe last night. What week is complete without trying some kind of new bread? I absolutely adore bread and pizza and any dish that looks like pizza is of immediate interest to me.

I tried this new recipe: Focaccia di Patate

I am not sure if she minds me reposting the recipe here so I will just let you go check it out for yourself if you are interested. This picture below is before I tossed them in the oven.

How to make Jim Lahey’s No-Knead Bread

I am posting this for everyone to enjoy! This is a recipe so simple even a child can do it.

Thanks to Luisa from Wednesday Chef for posting this recipe. Here is her review.

To fully appreciate that review you should read this one too:

Jeff Hertzberg

The Jeff Hertzberg book I still want to get. I will maybe next month. That review kind of put me off though. I am going to try his recipe once I get a baking stone and a peel. Til then I will wait.

What I also really like about his bread/book/idea, what have you, is making up a big hunk of dough basically and being able to just pull some out from the fridge for up to two weeks as needed. I will try it and let you guys know.
For now I tried the Jim Lahey bread. It has been a few weeks. I kept forgetting to blog about it. It was awesome. I very clearly remember Joey and I loving it and him asking me if I could make this bread every day! It was over the top awesome. Like melt in your mouth. Like you can’t believe this came out of YOUR oven!

My pictures are back!

Yeah!! Well I figured out how to get my pictures up in the sidebar, finally. Or should I say I finally had time to go hit google and figure it out. My sweetie could of done it but we have been so busy doing other stuff when he is home. Wouldn’t you know he fell asleep at 6:00 tonight?

I was tucked in bed at 9:00 last night and even fell asleep twice but the kids were slamming doors and making noise and it drove me nuts! I laid in bed for about an houre after getting them to STOP! 10:00 and I am laying there awake. I hate that. I finally got up. I need to get back on my 10:00 bed time schedule. I hate this.

Tomorrow I need to see if Joey can get the pictures to link to the post. That would be nice. But for now I am happy. There are still a few rough edges that I am smoothing out but all in all it is coming along nicely.

WFMW: How to Make brown sugar!

Tired of paying $1.00 or more for a lb of brown sugar? Or even more annoying is it hardening up, you go to use it and it’s like trying to break through rock. If you keep molasses on hand you don’t have to rush off to the store JUST for brown sugar.

Here is how to make it:

Measure out 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of molasses into a mixing bowl.
Stir it with a fork until it is completely mixed. It is now ready!

Here is a tip:

To make dark brown sugar, increase the molasses to two tablespoons.

I don’t even bother measuring this separately. If I am making something I just throw the sugar and the molasses in the mixer bowl with whatever ingredients at the same time.

Hope this helps!

Well I broke my menu plan. I was busy doing other things. 😉

Yesterday when I was pondering what bread to make Joey for lunch for the net few days he told me at lunch time to make more Stromboli. He could microwave it at work. SO I made up enough dough for 2 of the huge ones I am sure you have seen pics of. Split it into 8 pieces. I went a little easier on the cheese. For one big one it calls for 3 cups of cheese so that would be 3/4 cups each.

How to buy Filet Mignon for $4.07 a lb!

How to get Filet Mignon for $4.07 a lb!

Okay so we shop and buy meat when it goes on sale and stock up. Well when T bone or ribeye goes on sale we will buy a few packs. I found out this tip from a friend earlier on in the month.

She once asked a butcher what was the difference between a T bone and a porter house steak, cause they both looked the same to her, but porterhouse was .10 cents more. He told her that the porterhouse is a T bone steak with the smaller side of the steak actually being filet mignon.

WOW! She also told me that when the T bone goes on sale the porterhouse usually does as well. So we went to Staters that night and sure enough porterhouse was on sale for $4.07 a lb. She told me normally the filet part is a thinner strip but last night the filet part was very big.

It was REALLY good! We even saute’d mushroom and onions in butter to top it. I didn’t get a picture though. Those steak are so big I told dh we should go back Sunday and get more, slice off the filet and freeze separately. If you didn’t know, filet mignon sold as “filet mignon” is very expensive.

Menu Plan Monday!

menu plan monday

Okay so this is my first time participating in Organizing Junkies Menu plan Monday.

I have tried to sit down and write out a monthly plan and a weekly plan before and usually I don’t even make it to the next day before I forget all about it. It will be fun to see if I can stick to it this week. lol

And now for my menu plan:

Monday: Soft chicken tacos, Spanish Rice & Salsa

Tuesday: Chicken Veggie Rice Stirfry

Wednesday: Spaghetti, Salad & Garlic Bread

Thursday: Chile with Cornbread

Friday: Chicken Veggie Pizza

Saturday: Pot Roast, Salad & Mashed Potatoes

You can come back and visit during the week and I will try to post some of these recipes along with pictures.

How to make Chocolate Pudding Pie

chocolate pie

Believe it or not after making two loaves of bread yesterday around dinner time all of it except 5 thick slices were gone when I went to make lunch for dh. haha So I made two more loaves tonight. We had some bread with dinner, a salad and some vegetable lasagna I got on sale at Costco. It was $6.29 for 2 40 oz boxes with my $3.00 off coupon. Not a bad deal for a quick and easy dinner.

I prefer making our own lasagna. When I do we make 4 at a time but I didn’t have any ready tonight. I asked Joey what he thought of it and he kind of mumbled.

Welcome everyone!

Thanx for stopping by. Please bear with me while I get the quirks worked out. I still need to get the blog to translate from Italian to English. lol I need to get a sidebar up with all my pictures of my food. A good friend of mine, Alex, has been so kind to help me. I had another domain with a board on it and I have ran boards on other systems for years. But I love having a blog. They don’t require as much attention as a board does.

She helped me get my new domain set up and install the new board and the blog, which if you can tell by the name is going to be all about family, fun and food! I hope you enjoy the blog as much as I do and if you want to join us in having a wordpress blog on dangerously delicious recipes let me know. We can add up to 35 more blogs for free. All we ask is that you be respectful that this is a christian site and to keep your links and postings, pictures family friendly and discreet. And to link back to this blog.

WordPress has way more theme options when you go thru your own domain than just going thru them. Themes

Anyhow I am really excited. WordPress was able to import with the click of a button once or twice ALL My stuff from, all my pictures, even the comments!

How to make Cinnamon Chicken with Onion and Tomatoe

chicken with tomato

So last night I just wanted to throw something together quick. I thawed out a package of chicken thighs, tossed them in a baking pan. I had some bread crumbs left from the Cinnamon Bread I made the other day. I scattered that on top. I had a few pieces of sliced onion in the fridge and put that on top. I opened a can of sliced tomatoes and poured it water and all over the top of the chicken.
