A HUGE new pet peeve of mine…

…is people not watering their grass! This has bugged me ever since I have been window shopping at houses and am veering off main corridors and actually going down the streets to see what is there. Now yes I do realize sometimes people have moved out and are NOT living there. That is understandable. But that is not always the case up here. There are plenty of people living up here, cars parked in the driveway, toys on the porch the whole shebang and yellow, dead grass!

Now normally I would not dedicate a whole post to something as trivial as this but I just came across a picture of a house that looked nice. It said click to see more photos.

WOuldn’t you know the first picture looks great. The second pic the grass is dead! Then the other pictures you would expect to see empty rooms? Oh no! They are full of furniture, yeah someone is still living there.

Now maybe these pictures were taken before anyone moved out and maybe, just maybe the dead grass picture was taken after the people moved out. Could be. But why put the dead grass pic in at all then? They have a great picture of what the front lawn is supposed to look like.

If the people moved out why not go back and take pictures of the inside again? Maybe they are selling it furnished? I don’t know. What do you think?

I think after watching a bazillion episodes of House Hunters, I am always curious about why people are moving, and that gives clues as to reason behind the condition of the house and yard. You would be appauled at my yard! Weeds, weeds, weeds! We just mow whatever is green! Maybe the people with the dead grass have had someone in the hospital. Maybe they can’t afford the extra water to green up their grass. Maybe the husband is serving his country in Iraq and the wife is stuck inside with little ones. I do realize that if you want to sell your house, you should do everything you can to make it look GREAT. I just wonder about the people living there.

    hi Pam,

Get the weed wacker out! Yeah I have gotten alot more picky now that I am really looking closely at homes and neighborhoods. It really pulls down things. it does matter what is going on with people. I know 3.5 years ago or so when i was going thru a divorce, the lawn was the last thing I cared about. I seen a picture of the front yard later and winced.

Yeah you don’t know if they are selling it cause they fell on hard times or moving out of state or what. Sometimes people may even be sick. 😦
