Two 4th of July Cake’s

SO the other day we did a trial run for a 4th of July cake. I used the recipe for Magnolia’s Vanilla Cupcakes, but made cake instead. Joe is the one who frosted and decorated the two cakes. I also bought mini toothpick flags for cupcakes and 4th of July sprinkles. I will have to make up a batch and show you later.

The “It won’t melt and fall off” frosting

Hooray. Success. Well I love baking and decorating cupcakes. The only problem is when you use butter, if it gets to warm, it melts and starts to slide off the cupcake! Not so pretty then. SO I pmed a trusted source, Chocolate Chic.

What do you do for exercise?

For the past 3 years I have been really good about walking most of the time. Every now and then I will go though a lazy slump but not often. I absolutely love walking. It is great exercise and puts your mind at ease. There are so many health benefits I think it is crazy that more people don’t do it.

Sometimes when I am walking I get people pulling over and asking me if everything is okay and if I need a ride. Like I couldn’t possibly WILLINGLY be walking.  LOL

I usually walk 6 days a week, 60 – 90 minutes.

What do you do for exercise?

It is a sad day in cupcake land….

…. 😦 This first picture has real butter in the icing. But the problem is all 3 fell on the way to Joe’s work. 😦 Thank goodness it was just for Joe and a freebie for his 2 coworkers.

Well both butter icing frostings I have tried and love, will not stay up in the heat. Neither will this third recipe. They fall. I pmed a friend from a ladies christian board I frequent and she gave me a recipe and said to use crisco.

The cupcakes are back!!

….but not for long. 😦 I was all set to use the texas sheet cake recipe and make cupcakes to sell. I was going to make 48. Usually when I do this I double the cake ingredients and one frosting is enough for all 48. Well after making the batter, my eldest dd was putting cupcake liners in and there was only 21!!!! Yikes! We had mini cupcake liners but those are more like samples. She was able to get 12 mini’s out of the rest of the batter though. BUT not before I split the batter and poured it over a sheet cake pan.

Beef…it’s what’s for dinner…

… This steak was on sale last week for $2.00 a lb. The funniest thing about this picture is it actually is not anyone’s plate. Last night I was bad and got hungry. The garage door spring popped and Joey had to run all over to 3 different places looking for a replacement part last night after work. I am used to eating right when he gets home or shortly thereafter.

Yes I know you have all seen my cookies and brownies before but not with this camera. 😉

Super easy spaghetti dinner..

…..mmmmm…Now for something even more delicious I would recommend this recipe:

Super Chunky Spaghetti Sauce

But for nights you are short on time nothing beats quick and simple. I usually wait for the Hunts Chunky vegetable sauce to go on sale. It used to go on sale for $1.00 but now just $1.25. What I also like about this is it has 50 calories per serving, half a cup. Alot of sauces are 100 calories per serving.

Prices are going up again!!

On the 8th of May I bought a 72 oz bag of Nestle’s Tollhouse Morsels, yeah chocolate chips. It was $7.79 at Costco. I went just a few days ago and it was $8.99!!

Real butter ~ It was $5.69 for 4 lbs at Costco, I went a few days ago and it was $6.00.

Pinto beans. A few months ago I could get 20 lbs on sale for $9.00 at Stater Bros. Then it was $12.00 for 20, when I went yesterday they are selling 10 lb bags only for $9.00!! That is really rediculous!!

These are just a few things out of the many, things I have seen lately. Oil has like doubled in price too.

What have you specifically noticed going up lately?

A cresecent moon….

…..…okay so I admit, normally I don’t think about the moon. But I just got my camera and was driving home last night from getting eldest ds with Joe and it was such a clear beautiful nite and the moon had a perfect crescent shape. I decided to try out the 10x optical zoom.
