Chocolate cake with cherrys!

Okay so  we did this 2 weeks ago and had planned to do a stacked princess cake but I goofed up a batch of cake batter so all we had left was the smash cake(dinosaur) and a 12″ cake. What to do? We decided to make a cake with cherry pie filling and poured on to the top of the cake. It was delicious!

Happy Labor Day!!

Our BBQ cake is done! I am very happy about that. I think it took Joe like 4 hours to frost it though.

We made a chocolate mousse for the filling and staw/ban. We made “cool whip frosting” out of heavy cream, and gelatin. I need to take pics today. It looked so cool I don’t think I want to eat it.

I sold my Dora Cake today! Yeah!!!

Okay so this is the $65.00 Dora cake order. We spent WAY more time on this than we anticipated. Oh and we missed our deadline! She said on the phone 12:00 and it was just problem after problem!

I go in the kitchen at 9:00 this a.m.and Joe went to wash the van outside. (His days off are Thurs – Sat) The girls were watching a movie. I thought I would be smart last night and get a jump start and get the dry ingredients ready. I would be making 9 3/4 cups chocolate cake today. Two 8″ cakes and there would be batter for cupcakes left over but not enough. We need 36, plus a few to test plus 2 for another order, don’t laugh! haha. So I figured I would also make the texas sheet cake batter. That one is nice and simple. Then we would have leftovers to sell a few this weekend.

Okay so the baking the other day did NOT…

We did this banana cream pie a week or so ago. Just thought I would toss this in since I don’t have any cake pics yet. 😦

…go as planned. I set out to bake 2 6 inch cakes and 2 8 inch cakes. I have 4 new 9 inch spring form pans which I adore but that is not 8 inches is it?

A few years back we bought at Michaels a set of 4 pans. 6, 8, 10, and 12 inches.

SO I used the 6 in’ twice and the 8 in once. And the bakers secret pans I used to use for brownies are supposed to be 8 inches. Guess what? They aren’t!

Banana bread mini loaves!!

I know they look big in the picture but they are not. They are mini loaves and are half a pound each. I know because I even weighed them. haha

So a few weeks ago I made banana bread and sliced it up into small $2 slice packs. They all sold. Made 1 small loaf of bread that sold too.

SInce then I have been wanting to get mini loaf pans, for the people who want to try it but don’t yet want to commit to a whole loaf. So I bought 8 and then we had 4th of July so I was focused on cupcakes and sugar cookies.

$20.00 for a dozen cupcakes!!!

Yes you heard that right. We were paid $20.00 to bake and make 1 dozen cupcakes for the 4th of July! Click here for pics of the cupcakes sent out earlier in the week. Earlier in the week we made up the boxes with 2 cupcakes + 2 sugar cookies for $2.00 or 3 cupcakes + 3 cookies for $3.00.

4th of July Cupcakes!

Well I picked up some mini flags from a party supply store a few weeks back. I colored the icing red and blue. I searched 5 different stores looking for 4th of July sprinkles. Finally found them a week or so ago at Joann’s craft. I went on the hunt for a decent sugar cookie recipe. I found one. It uses a touch of lemon extract and is marvelous.

Who doesn’t love banana bread?

Late week I got about 8.25 pounds of bananas for .99 cents. Two days later, same store, about 12 pounds for .99 cents. The first time I made a triple batch of banana bread. I made mini banana cakes and banana muffins and a loaf of bread. The second time was right before we went camping.

Apple Spice Cake

Well my friend Pam over at Kid’s Kitchen was kind enough to share one of her recipes with us. She is an awesome baker and even sells her baked goods at her local farmers market. Thanx for sharing Pam!

I didn’t try the red food coloring.

I didn’t have a bundt pan.

But I don’t let silly things like that stop me. 😉

Two 4th of July Cake’s

SO the other day we did a trial run for a 4th of July cake. I used the recipe for Magnolia’s Vanilla Cupcakes, but made cake instead. Joe is the one who frosted and decorated the two cakes. I also bought mini toothpick flags for cupcakes and 4th of July sprinkles. I will have to make up a batch and show you later.
