Cupcake photoshoot….

I think these ones are adorable.

….so yesterday after having only 4 hours sleep the previous night I deiced to bake & frost 30 cupcakes and do a photo shoot. I got tired about half way in and decided to take a nap but with 5 kids running amuck I knew better than to even try. lol

I like the 16:9 camera option but not so much for cupcakes.

4th of July Cupcakes!

Well I picked up some mini flags from a party supply store a few weeks back. I colored the icing red and blue. I searched 5 different stores looking for 4th of July sprinkles. Finally found them a week or so ago at Joann’s craft. I went on the hunt for a decent sugar cookie recipe. I found one. It uses a touch of lemon extract and is marvelous.

Chocolate Cupcakes!

I used the texas sheet cake recipe for the cake part and used a butter/confectioners sugar recipe similiar to this for the frosting. I added pink and blue icing coloring for the icing and added some cocoa for the chocolate. I have tried two different recipes for the frosting and I must say that I am about ready to give up.

How to Make Magnolia’s Chocolate Cupcakes

Okay so I have made Magnolia’s Vanilla cupcakes before like 3 times and raved about them here and here. They are REALLY good! The other day was my ds’s birthday so I wanted to make him some cupcakes. I wanted to try a new recipe though too. Fortunately for us we had all the ingredients on hand. I did add a tsp of cinnamon to the cupcake batter though.

How to make The best cupcakes ever!

CupcakesThese cupcakes are the best! Yeah I know, that is what every one says, but seriously, these are wonderful! I have tried many cake mixes(store mixes)in my day and most the time was not impressed. I think the only time I was impressed was the year my aunt made lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I believe the mix was Pilsbury. Even though these mixes have gone on sale for .50 cents to $1.00 over the holidays I can NOT bring myself to buy something, no matter how cheap, laden with trans fat!

Magnolia Bakery Vanilla Cupcakes

Well I made the vanilla cupcakes twice now. If you are interested in the story behind these cupcakes, read my Peanut Butter Cookie’s thread. WOW! They are tender, light, fluffy, moist. They are perfect! The second time I even got the frosting right. They are awesome. Last time we added 6 cups of powdered sugar, too runny. It says between 6-8. This time I was on the phone and lost track of how many cups I put in. So I am not sure if I used 7 or 8 but the frosting looked great and this time I could tell it was done! Hooray! I made violet and green cupcakes with sprinkles.
