How to Make Magnolia’s Chocolate Cupcakes

Okay so I have made Magnolia’s Vanilla cupcakes before like 3 times and raved about them here and here. They are REALLY good! The other day was my ds’s birthday so I wanted to make him some cupcakes. I wanted to try a new recipe though too. Fortunately for us we had all the ingredients on hand. I did add a tsp of cinnamon to the cupcake batter though.

How to make Awesome Banana Nut Bread

I don’t have any pictures of the banana bread handy so this is a picture of some banana muffins. I am sure you all know what bread looks like. 😉 Well over Christmas I went searching for an awesome banana nut bread recipe. I stopped by Epicurious and clicked to see what bread had the best rating that was strictly banana nut bread, not one with streussel topping, not one with macadamian nuts, etc. The first one I came to that was such, I immediately clicked the reviews. There were 219 of them!

It is a good thing I like to actually read the reviews instead of just making sure a recipe has a lot of reviews and alot of stars/forks. I didn’t read all of them, maybe just 4 or 5 pages or so, out of 22. But it turns out about 3/4’s of the page down on page 5, “john from Franklin Ma” posted a great recipe he had and for the next 5 pages just about everyone quit reviewing the original posters banana bread and started reviewing his recipe!

How to make Chocolate Pudding Pie

chocolate pie

Believe it or not after making two loaves of bread yesterday around dinner time all of it except 5 thick slices were gone when I went to make lunch for dh. haha So I made two more loaves tonight. We had some bread with dinner, a salad and some vegetable lasagna I got on sale at Costco. It was $6.29 for 2 40 oz boxes with my $3.00 off coupon. Not a bad deal for a quick and easy dinner.

I prefer making our own lasagna. When I do we make 4 at a time but I didn’t have any ready tonight. I asked Joey what he thought of it and he kind of mumbled.

How to make 5 lb Nachos!

We all went to a birthday party yesterday. Well all of us except my eldest dd. She wanted to stay home. She missed out on some awesome nachos!

nachos

These Nachos were soooo good!! You want the recipe? It is simple!

Grab a plate and load it up with nacho cheese chips, warmed up cheese sauce, ground beef, beans, tomato, green onion, cilantro, lettuce, olives and sour cream.

Easy! I told my friend that Joe and I would just split a plate. (She was making the other plates smaller and she was like no, have your own plate.) I was like no it’s okay. I’d rather split a plate cause I had already hit the ruffles chips and onion dip. SO she went and made us this HUMONGOUS plate to share!! lol It doesn’t look that big in the picture but that plate is FULL of food and heaping high. lol It was great though!!

Texas Sheet Cake

cake

..mmmmmm…this is the same recipe as the California Round Cake that I made earlier this month except I used all purpose flour instead of the wheat this time.

texas sheet cake

I also used the baking sheet this time instead of the round pans. It was really great. Even more awesome than last time.

texas cake 2

I think maybe next time I will compromise and use half/half. It was so good I even went back for a second piece. It was melt in your delicious. We ate it warm. I managed to save dh the two last pieces so he can take to work soon.

This recipe is really great and you will love it.

Texas Sheet Cake

Pioneer Woman Chocolate Sheet Cake
Combine in a mixing bowl:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt

In a saucepan, melt:
2 sticks butter
Add 4 heaping tablespoons cocoa. Stir together.
Add 1 cup boiling water, allow mixture to boil for 30 seconds, then turn off heat. Pour over flour mixture, and stir lightly to cool.

In measuring cup, pour 1/2 cup buttermilk.
Add:
2 beaten eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla

Stir buttermilk mixture into butter/chocolate mixture. Pour into sheet cake pan and bake at 350-degrees for 20 minutes.

While cake is baking, make icing:
Chop 1/2 cup pecans finely.
Melt 1 3/4 sticks butter in a saucepan.
Add 4 heaping tablespoons cocoa, stir to combine, then turn off heat.
Add:
6 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 lb minus 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Stir together.
Add pecans, stir together, and pour over warm cake.

Cut into squares, eat, and totally wig out over the fact that you’ve just made the best chocolate sheet cake. Ever.

How to make The best cupcakes ever!

CupcakesThese cupcakes are the best! Yeah I know, that is what every one says, but seriously, these are wonderful! I have tried many cake mixes(store mixes)in my day and most the time was not impressed. I think the only time I was impressed was the year my aunt made lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I believe the mix was Pilsbury. Even though these mixes have gone on sale for .50 cents to $1.00 over the holidays I can NOT bring myself to buy something, no matter how cheap, laden with trans fat!

Magnolia Bakery Vanilla Cupcakes

cupcakes

Well I made the vanilla cupcakes twice now. If you are interested in the story behind these cupcakes, read my Peanut Butter Cookie’s thread. WOW! They are tender, light, fluffy, moist. They are perfect! The second time I even got the frosting right. They are awesome. Last time we added 6 cups of powdered sugar, too runny. It says between 6-8. This time I was on the phone and lost track of how many cups I put in. So I am not sure if I used 7 or 8 but the frosting looked great and this time I could tell it was done! Hooray! I made violet and green cupcakes with sprinkles.

Magnolia Bakery Blueberry Muffins

Blueberry muffins
Well I found online about 7 of the Magnolia Bakery recipes. That is the bakery in New York City where people line up down the block for an hour or longer sometimes just to buy a cupcake. lol Joe was baking with me yesterday and we also tried the vanilla, vanilla cupcakes. I will review those later. These muffins are very good. I used half whole wheat/half all purpose flour. Usually any muffins I do, if I do all whole wheat they come out pretty wheaty tasting.

White Chocolate, and Macadamia Nut Cookies

mac

You see how thin these are? Okay so yes I am baking alot this month. This is the perfect time to try new recipes. My pants I slipped on this morning are fitting a little tighter but it is cause I washed them in warm with hubby’s work clothes last night. You see he had been playing in the mud all day. Digging a trench, fixing a broken water main or something at work.

REALLY!! I am not gaining or anything. Really I am not. Oh you don’t believe me? Hmmmppphhh. Well let us get to the cookies then. 🙂
