How to get Baskin Robbins Ice Cream for .31 cents tonight!

No it is not the waffle cone, it is the regular single serve cone but I couldn’t get those image locations.

Join us for 31 Cent Scoop Night at Baskin-Robbins®
and help us honor America’s firefighters.
Participating stores will reduce prices of small ice
cream scoops to 31 cents.* At some locations, you
may also have an opportunity to make a donation
to your local fire charities.

Baskin Robbins

I already called our local store and they said yes they are participating. It is between 5-10 tonight!

WFMW: Price book protector sheets.

I know most of you ladies are familiar with keeping a price book. They are very handy to keep track of sale prices at different grocery stores. Last year I was all proud of myself and typed up and even alphabetized my price book. The first “oops” was when I needed to have another item added to my price book and didn’t have a spot to put it, cause everything was alphabetized already.

The second big “oops” was when the prices sky rocketed in February. Remember that? All my hard work and writing everything down, useless within a few weeks. I got frustrated and pitched it.

But I really liked the concept of keeping one I just needed to tweak it so it would work better for me. I came up with an idea after my eldest dd kept bugging me for sheet protector’s for her notebooks.

My idea was to use loose leaf paper and make categories. Each page covers a category. Sometimes I need 3 or 4 pages for a category. Dairy, Meat, Canned Goods, etc. That way food items go into a category and I don’t have to worry about alphabetizing them only to add something later that was forgotten.

Next is get a 3 ring notebook and some plastic protectors sheets. I know it sounds silly but it actually works great. Once you have made the list up and added stores and lines with a ruler, stick the list inside the sheet and now you are ready to write your price ON TOP of the sheet. Make sure you use a dry erase marker. It works great. Need to wipe it off? Grab a rag.

So now when those stupid stores decide to change their prices on us yet again, we will be ready! For more tips check out Don’t Try It

WFMW: How to Make brown sugar!

Tired of paying $1.00 or more for a lb of brown sugar? Or even more annoying is it hardening up, you go to use it and it’s like trying to break through rock. If you keep molasses on hand you don’t have to rush off to the store JUST for brown sugar.

Here is how to make it:

Measure out 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of molasses into a mixing bowl.
Stir it with a fork until it is completely mixed. It is now ready!

Here is a tip:

To make dark brown sugar, increase the molasses to two tablespoons.

I don’t even bother measuring this separately. If I am making something I just throw the sugar and the molasses in the mixer bowl with whatever ingredients at the same time.

Hope this helps!

How to Ask for a discount!

This has worked for me many times. Whenever we rent a car, book a hotel, buy shoes at payless, buy auto parts even, we ask for a discount. Well I do anyhow, Joe will if he remembers or I remind him. lol

Most of the time I drop the AAA name. Now for the car stuff it was Napa and it wasn’t AAA. It was the fact that Joe used to work for General Motors. He doesn’t any more, now he works for the City.

I was reading a blog last week and the lady mentioned going to and buying gift certificates cheap and having a date night. We usually do this once a month, or once every other month, go out to a nice restaurant. Once a week we hit In & Out or the like but I don’t really count that. WFMW: How to use TWO coupons per purchase

I know some of you ladies may know this but hey, maybe some of you don’t. This Works-For-Me Wednesday I will let you know how I got 5 boxes of Total cereal today, normally priced at $4.00 a box(so $20.00 worth)for only $7.50. Now I am certainly not the coupon Queen but I do try to clip here and there what I think I will use.

Well my local grocery store was selling Total cereal for $2.50 this week. They also had an “in ad coupon” for $3.00 off if you buy 5 boxes in their flyer. So $12.50 – $3.00 is $9.50, not bad. Well it just so happens I also had a $2.00 off manufacturers coupon for when you buy 5 boxes. So $9.50 – $2.00 = $7.50. Even better! That is the catch. You can use both a manufacturers coupon and a store “in ad” coupon on the same purchase and save even more money.

So check the small print on those coupons ladies and double up where you can. For more tips go take a look at Works-For-Me Wednesday
